We have already explained it many times, but a car can be considered as an investment. As such, taking care that everything is in optimal condition becomes fundamental.
We have made recommendations to take care of your engine, your brakes, your tires, and even to clean your battery with Coca-Cola. Thus, maintaining your car well should not be a complicated issue. Curiously, one of the aspects that should matter the most to us and that we often put aside is the paint and the care that it must have, understand washing.
There are many debates around how often you should wash a car, however, and as you can imagine, there are many variables that can cause this to change.
Many experts agree that a recommended time is two weeks between each wash, this taking into account the WHOLE year. Obviously, it will depend a lot on the area where you live, for example, if you live near the sea or in places where a saline environment prevails, it is advisable to wash it more frequently, since the salt is very corrosive and causes rust.
Other elements such as bird poop (yes, poop) or tree sap, damage the paint a lot, so in those cases, it is not only convenient to wash it more often but to avoid it falling in the first place. Also, from experience, I can tell you that taking it off is martyrdom.
Without a doubt, avoiding contact with all these agents is the best option, as this way you will avoid having to clean. Keeping it indoors in an environment where there is no dust or rain not only makes you have to wash it less frequently, but it will keep it in good condition for a long time.
And the interior?
Obviously, the interior is also an aspect to take care of in our car and although it will not be as exposed to corrosive elements as the exterior, it is important to take care of it. Aspects such as dog hair, dust and everything that we dismiss, gradually degrade materials. The most convenient thing is to vacuum up all kinds of dirt and if there are stains, remove them with an upholstery cleaner.
In the case of leather seats, the care must also be special, that is to say, carefully wash every three months; the point is to prevent it from cracking. If you use your car a lot and every day, that is, if you use them like Uber, and it is constantly exposed to the sun, you should do it every other day.
Do not forget that much deeper cleaning is also recommended, however, if it is not your strong suit, it is not essential.
Just remember this: wash normally every two weeks, wax at least once every six months, and a deep clean inside every month. It is the most recommended and the best.
